Clean Out the Pantry

In the back of my mind, throwing food out is like throwing cash out.  It’s a terrible feeling for me.  I’d slowly eat what was in my cabinets because I didn’t want to throw them out.  There came a point in time where I finally started to throw out boxes and baggies of crappy, processed, cheap food in my cabinets.  It was a refreshing feeling – I didn’t have to stare at foods in my cabinets that I deep down know I didn’t want to eat, but didn’t want to throw away, either.  I got to the point where I was sold on paleo, and didnt crave or want those foods anymore . It starts with a nudge from a friend.

I’ll be your friend.  Get a garbage bag and toss it.  You can throw in the trash can or you can donate it.  But don’t keep it around.

For me, that money is not wasted when I throw it out, it was wasted when I BOUGHT that food to begin with. It’s most certainly wasted when I put it into my body, and in that case it wastes my body as well. My body is not a garbage can for junk food. Garbage belongs in the garbage can. 🙂

With three small kids and 2 full time working parents, I chose to change to a Paleo lifestyle on my own. In doing so, cabinets aren’t cleaned out – just my mind. I one day decided that no one or no “thing” could make me feel better and possibly live longer – than me. I’m finally in control again. Once there and feeling so much better – cravings are slim to none and even “stuff” around the house doesn’t tempt me any longer. As for me kids? Well, I may not control what happens outside of the home however we discuss daily the effects food has and why certain foods are better than others. Not to mention – they eat paleo dinners and don’t even mind!
