A New Way To Shop

My mom always raved about Aldi grocery stores! I didn’t get it. What was so awesome about a discount market that sold cheap, and probably tasted cheap, too?  For those who know me, I love a great deal, but not when it comes to quality.  Then, Whoa. Was I Wrong.

I went to Aldi the other day because something in my gut (maybe my mom’s spirit), was telling me to go.  I bought some “snack foods” like grapes, strawberries, and a few avocados.  The grapes were $1/lb, strawberries $1.50/ plastic container, and avocados $.80.  I wasn’t raving just yet; I had to taste them first.  What’s a great deal if you can’t hardly stand the taste of it.  I was in for a surprise.  The grapes and strawberries were SO yummy!  I went back the following day to try their vegetables.  Aldi peppers were a red, yellow, and orange for a $2.50 a bag of 3.  I’m a fan of farmers, too, but if It costs me at least a $1.50 (on sale) or more for a sigle red pepper.  I figure I’m saving at least 1/3 on my grocery bills.  SO, I purchased 2lbs grapes for $2, bananas for $.17,  2 strawberry packs ($.99 each), asparagus $3.49, 6 peppers for $5,  6 tomatoes for $1.89 and broccoli for $1.89.  It totaled $16 in all.  I’m pretty sure I saved at least $10 from my normal grocery bill. Best part about it, it all tastes really, really good.  I won’t buy, “I’m a poor college kid” or “I have a family to feed” anymore 🙂
