Paleo Challenge

We have 30 participants our paleo challenge!  It starts tonight at Midnight!! Everyone will receive an email that will include contact information for their teammate – Here’s what it’ll entail:

Get Connected

  • Contact your partner within the next 48 hours, and respond to your partner within the next 48 hours!   Your options are meeting at the gym, emailing, or calling.  You must reflect your communication in your Journal – we need to know that everyone is following through with their responsibilities as a partner.
  • A few things you need to discuss together: your personal goals inside/outside of the gym, your expectations of possible outcomes from the challenge, how you have prepared for the challenge, and how you might need to manage your time or alter an old lifestyle to help make paleo happen.

Side Note: When you are communicating with your partner, prevent or catch yourself complaining about your struggles .  You can discuss your struggles and accept advice on how to overcome them, but don’t dwell on them.

  • Discuss how often you would like to communicate.  You need to connect at least once a week, but you also don’t want to text every second of the day.  Have respect and be tasteful with your communication.  Perhaps you can plan connection times in advance.

    Sooo… hopefully this is the right place to check-in today?

    Day 1 did not go quite as well as I had imagined, but only because I felt like crap on Friday and didn’t do the planning I had intended and consequently didn’t really have the foods I needed. Let’s just say I ate a lot of meat & eggs yesterday and not so many veggies. I’m gonna get my act together today. So lesson #1 is that I have to plan ahead if this is gonna work. I also learned that Bfoods will accommodate you with a lettuce wrap if you ask (and they have 2 Paleo side options), though it is not an option on their menu. And I managed to survive a pitch-in and was thoroughly amused to look at the huge spread of food there and not find one.single.vegetable. Not one!!! And no fruit either. Just some meats, lots of desserts, cheese balls, lasagna, and other grain & cheese-based foods. So that was interesting food for thought and in the future, when going to non-Paleo pitch-ins I won’t struggle with deciding what to bring… sauteed asparagus, a salad, SOMETHING green. Or perhaps orange. 🙂
