’m watching tv this morning, and throughout the early morning shows and commercials, I got to thinking about America, and how oblivious we really are about being sick, feeble, and not mention, overweight.  There are pharmaceutical Commercials GALORE for acne, depression, insomnia,osteoporosis, arthritis, sex drive…ugh.  There are Gimmick Weight Loss Commercials GALORE from companies who want to sell you space food for the rest of your life.   Do you notice the small words at the bottom of the screen that say RESULTS NOT TYPICAL?  In the mean time, why not help someone make a million and purchase the Shake Weight. Ok. You can get toned arms while you sit on the toilet and that’s some great multi tasking.

So you lost 10 lbs for summer after fidgeting with your food and physical activity. Most likely you’ll gain part of it back by December, and all of it back after the next 5 years of your stressful life.  Are you going to be healthier 10 years from now by juggling that kind of lifestyle? Because right after I saw all those other commericals, the next one was for First Alert.  Don’t you want to be 80 and be confident with your body?  Don’t you want to A) Not Fall because you have balance and coordination and B) if you do, your bones and the muscles around your joints be strong enough to withstand the impact?, Food from the mail or in a box from the freezer, and As Seen on TV exercise toys are excuses to hide the real problems in your life, and sometimes, we just don’t really know better and desperate for SOMETHING to give us hope.  At the end of the day, you NEED to make time for yourself.  Just start walking. Just start doing those On Demand workouts on tv.  But now that you know about CrossFit and Paleo, it’s time to stop the excuses, get off your medication by fixing your diet (grains are not good for you, by the way) and stop complaining about your baby weight after 4 years have passed.

Firstly, what you need to know about paleo is it is not a FAD diet.  It’s a lifestyle change that can prevent and/or reverse diseases, promote fertility, fix menstrual problems, and so much, much more. You cannot eat doughnuts everyday, pizza every night and expect to look sexy in the mirror, not to mention dodge all the illnesses I’ve quoted.  Lets dig deeper, you cannot expect to love your inner-self, either.  Better food (meats, veggies, nuts and seeds) means better sleep, better joint mobility, better muscle repair, better heart, better brain, better everything else.  Good sleep means a day full of energy. When have you ever had high energy and been down in the dumps? When you have a better memory or thought process you are more confident in your decisions and what you accomplish at work.  Do you want to be enslaved to fried, sugary, breaded things? Are you salivating while just reading that?

Secondly, what you need to know about your current workout routine is that you could be using your time more wisely.  You don’t need 7 days a week of running.  Actually, running without cross training causes a world of injuries to your ankles, knees, hips and back.  Single jointed movements like leg lifts and bicep curls for cross training are not well applicative to your daily needs as a multi-jointed human.  To complete daily tasks we use all the muscles in our whole arm, not just the bicep.   Maybe you are a mom who enjoys aerobics and Zumba.  Wow, step class will give you seriously amazing legs.  But after 1 hour 2-3 days a week you also need to spend another hour 2-3 days a week to “strengthen” your upper body (I don’t want to talk about bicep curls again).   Or, you skip upper body and succumbed letting your husband do most things for you.  I know why you like aerobics and Zumba…because you’re with friends.   CrossFit not only gets you strong in a functional, multi-joined manner, plus, building your endurance for long distance cardio in a 5-25 minute workout with a personal trainer,  but the relationships you make will last a lifetime.  It’s everything you always wanted in one small box 🙂  Not to mention, we have free nutrition advice.
