Eat the rainbow foods

Veggies, fruits, and herbs and spices are not high in calories, yet respresent your main source of healthy carbs and micronutritients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and thousands of other phytonutrients.  Nuts, seeds, and their derivative butters and animal foods are calorically dense, stimulate minimal insulin production, and offer the best forms of healthy protein and fat.

Red plants: shown to help reduce risk of prostate cancer as well as some tumors (pomegranets, cherries, watermelon, etc.)

Green Fruit and veggies: high in cartenoids that have a power anti-aging effect and are especially helpful for vision (avocados, limes, green beans, zucchini, etc.)

Yellow/Orange produce: high in beta-carotene for immune support as well as bromelain, which has been shown to aid in digestion, joint health,  and the reduction of inflammatory conditions (bananas, carrots, butternut squash, pineapple). 

Crciferous “cross-shaped” veggies: these have demonstrated specific anti-cancer, anti-aging, and antimicrobial properties (broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale, arugala, turnips, bok choy, cauliflower).
