Author, Mark Sisson, dispels conventional wisdom that vegetarianism is healthier and a diet high in animal foods lead to obesity and heart disease. Animal foods will help you reduce excess body fat, help accelerate brain performance, build lean muscle, and generally promote peak performance. These foods contain preservatives that act as potential carcinogens,plus lack essential nutrients from mechanical processing, added preservatives, artificial colors, and sweeteners. Mass-produced ranch animals can contain hormones to make them bigger, pesticides (contaminated in their food source), and antibiotics (to prevent widespread illnes resulting from consuming immune-suppressing feed and living in filthy, cramped, artificial conditions).
You’ve probably heard that overcooking meat is associated with increased risks due to heat-altered chemical by-products called heterocyclic amines (HCAs) which may be carcinogenic if consumed frequently over long periods of time. Here’s the reality: mankind has been cooking meat over a fire for hundreds of thousands of years. We’ve developed genetic adaptations to allow properly cooked foods without problems. Studies also show that consuming antioxidant rich foods along with cooked meats can essentially neutralize HCAs during digestion. Eliminate high heat barbeque, deep fried, or eating raw meat will help eliminate the risk all together.
