Do you burn out by 3pm and feel moody, sluggish, and tired?

Our government doesn’t think you have what it takes to harness your bad habits and take control of your life. US Food Guide Pyramid wants you to eat grains liberally so you feel full and don’t want to eat more food – HERE IT IS “Fiber-containing foods such as whole grains help provide a feeling of fullness with fewer calories.” (  Raise your hand if you keep a stash of some type of Whole-Grain-All-Natural bar at your work just so you can try and curb your sweets and chocolate cravings in the afternoon.   Does it work? are you happy? We are imprisoned by this psychological battle of “I want It and I can’t have it” syndrome when we pull out a less desirable grain bar.  Get rid of these feelings all together!!!

Unfortunately, when you ingest these complex carbohydrates, your body generates an immediate increase in blood gluclose levels.  In a matter of minutes your pancrease secretes a large amount of insulin; depending on your meal and degree of insulin sensitivity, this rush of insulin can cause your blood Glucose levels to  decline so much that your glucose-dependent brain is now low on fuel.  Now your mood, energy, and alertness, and cravings are affected all afternoon.  Your body wants more quick sugar to refuel, so now we have a vicious cycle of cravings and sweet tooth.

Start your day off right with a meal rich in proteins, simple carbs (vegetables first and very little fruit), and fats (almonds, coconut oil, avocado).  When you begin starving your brain of grains, sugars, and other complex carbs you will only want to eat when you feel hungry, you will have regular levels of energy all day, and you will feel sleepy when it’s the right time to be tired.

Do a personal study and ask yourself the following questions:

1. When I ate my bowl of cereal this morning, how long did it take for me to feel hungry again? (me, personally, 1 hour)

2. When I ate a meal rich in protein, simple carbs, and fat, how long did it take for me to feel hungry again? (me, personally, 3-5 hours)

YOUR TO DO LIST: Buy FRESH VEGETABLES and PLAY WITH THEM.  They don’t have to be boring, and you don’t have to cover them up with cheese or dressing.  When you stop eating salt and sugar you will taste vegetables in a whole different way.
